Your guide to experiencing the Gargano region in Puglia, Italy!

Let's Go Gargano!

   Peschici at Dusk

The Gargano is a magical place and at GarganoTravelGuide.com we hope to help you discover and experience one of the most unique regions of Italy.

This tiny peninsula at the top of Italy’s boot is part of Puglia (Apulia), a region as diverse in geography as it is in culture. It has everything one could hope to find when dreaming of la dolce vita, the ‘sweet life’. The heart of the region includes Italy’s largest national park and the Umbra Forest which cascades down toward the limestone cliffs of the Adriatic Sea. Narrow bands of white, sandy beaches dot the coastline. Spectacular towns like Peschici, Vieste and Rodi di Gargano crown the cliffs, each a delightful jumble of white stone and medieval masonry.

The region also offers a surprising expanse of art and culture, from pre-historic settlements to thermal baths, from castles to cathedrals, including the Monte Sant’Angelo, one of the great pilgrimage churches of the Middle Ages. One can almost feel in the air the historical heritage, a spirit that continues to reach across the centuries.

Perhaps the best symbols of the region are the ancient olive groves and vineyards, which cascade over the rolling hillsides. The extraordinary Pugliese cuisine pairs the fruits of the earth with the delicate flavours of the fruits of the sea, pulled up daily from the bounty of the Adriatic.

Our aim at GarganoTravelGuide.com is to provide a comprehensive guide to travelling in the Gargano including even the most practical of tips for travelers. We think it is one of the most beautiful places on earth and we look forward to sharing it with you!
